Pardon Ms. Arden is a Munich-based band from Munich. But you know that by now.
The band was formed in late 2006 when Brit descendant singer and guitarist Nick published a couple of demo songs on the MySpace profile of a band called The Jukeboxers – a “group” that he had only just invented consisting only of himself. Among these songs was a tune called Disco Queen which would later become Pardon Ms. Arden’s first single release. The demos gained Nick a lot of attention from club owners and concert promoters in his hometown. When The Jukeboxers were asked to play a couple of concerts in Munich, Nick decided to ask Tom and Alex, two friends and musicians he had played with in a variety of mainly awful bands, to actually form the band with him. Shortly thereafter, they changed their name to Pardon Ms. Arden and started recording their first songs as a three-piece at Telstar Studio in Munich – a well-known studio in which, among others, Arctic Monkeys recorded their hit song Mardy Bum.
In April 2007, after having played concerts supporting the likes of The Nymphets (CAN) or Virginia Jetzt! (GER), the band signed to Eichenau-based small independent record label I Hate Music Records and released their first demo single Disco Queen – a song that won them heavy airplay on College Radio stations all over the country. Following the success of their first song, they released their first full length demo album entitled I Bet You’Re Pardon Ms. Arden and set out to play shows in Germany and Austria. In early 2008, the band released their second demo LP entitled Isn’t That Too Much Of A Difference. Touring continued and included concerts at Frequency Festival in Salzburg, Austria and Prima Leben Und Stereo Festival in Freising, Germany, alongside acts such as R.E.M., The Subways, Hot Hot Heat, Eight Legs, Chikinki, Fotos, Das Pop, and many more.
Trillions of shows followed until early 2009 when Pardon Ms. Arden signed to up and coming Munich-based record label Flowerstreet Records and released their first official single, This Ain’t Indie! in May. The single as well as successive touring gained them a bigger amount of media attention, and in late 2009, the band was asked to write and perform a song for the SonyEricsson FanWalk 2009, a tv-advertised event sponsored by SonyEricsson and MTV Europe. Pardon Ms. Arden’s song Let’s Get It On was used as the soundtrack to the tv ad – broadcasted in more than 20 countries – and went on to become the band’s first nationwide dancefloor filler. Sponsored by MTV and SonyEricsson, the trio toured Northern Germany alongside 100 FanWalkers from all over Europe – an experience that culminated in the band playing a show at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Berlin.

Following the success of their song Let’s Get It On, the band released their first proper album Pardon Ms. Arden in March 2010. To support the album, Nick, Tom and Alex did what they always did (and still do): They went out on the road, supporting indie pop legends The Posies as well as The Courteeners and The Cinematics.
By the end of 2010, the band decided it was time to record their second album before they once more set out to tour the country. They were joined by Franz for the recording process to help out on piano, keyboards and other instruments that start beeping once you touch them. Eventually, Franz became a permanent member of the band. The first single off their new record Restless Legs, Any Other Place, was released in June of 2011, the album itself got released in August and hit the top 50 download charts at Amazon with the band playing as many concerts as possible, supporting the likes of The Rifles, Fotos, and many more on their tours.
Pardon Ms. Arden is a Munich-based band from Munich. Now, you know even more than that. Pardon Ms. Arden play indie pop music that is fresh, exciting and emotional. Nick. Tom. Alex. Franz. Guitar. Bass. Drums. Keys. Nothing more. Nothing less. Dance! Sing along! Have a good time! Tell your friends!
